A work of fiction, inspired by real events.
An aid auditor arrives to keep relief moving after a catastrophic earthquake. To move anything, every permission, partner, and report has to pass through the First Lady’s humanitarian network, where help, access, and loyalty are the same currency.
She came to check the system. Soon she is protecting it.
The tension
- Mercy is the instrument. The charity does real good, and it is also the most effective way power keeps its grip.
- The mirror arc. To keep the aid flowing, the auditor compromises, and starts to understand the logic from the inside.
- One central question. If mercy can only survive by serving power, is it still mercy?
Approach
- Prestige political thriller. Character and moral pressure over exposé, told from inside the machine rather than against it.
- Fiction, grounded in the record. Invented characters carry the drama, built on documented patterns of how aid, image, and control intertwine.
